Burners

Unitherm Cemcon Burners for industrial applications

M.A.S. Kiln Burner-UNICAL Calciner Burner / M.A.S. GAS Burner

The necessity to reduce operating costs, as well as stricter emission limits, have forced burner manufacturers to find new solutions in burning efficiency.
Evolved NOZZLE HEAD:
Applications:
  • Originally a rotary kiln burner designed for traditional fuels
  • Evolved into a high-performance burner for optimal solid secondary fuel utilization.
  • First M.A.S. burner installation introduced in 1993
  • Extensive changes made to the nozzle head of the burner since then.
  • Higher solid secondary fuel usage demands greater burner momentum compared to primary fuels.
  • New nozzle head design aimed to maximize primary air momentum.
  • Rather than using primary air fans or blowers with higher pressure, the M.A.S. primary air injection system was significantly redesigned.
  • The actual momentum at the burner tip differs greatly from the calculated momentum at the primary air inlet.
  • Burners with two primary air channels face higher pressure losses through the channels and nozzles.
  • Penetration depth of the primary air jet depends on nozzle diameter, with losses occurring during external mixing of axial and radial air.
  • Mono Airduct System eliminates these losses.
  • Larger burner diameters require bigger central channels for solid secondary fuel, leading to smaller primary air outlets and higher pressure losses at the nozzles.
  • The modified primary air system of the M.A.S. burner addresses these issues to maximize primary air momentum without increasing primary air pressure.
  • M.A.S. nozzles and flexible hoses are designed closer to the burner mouth, with a widened gap in the air nozzle for unobstructed primary air jet injection.
  • Latest burner installations and CFD modeling show improved secondary air entrainment into the flame root, resulting in earlier fuel ignition.
